CABS provides individual, family, group, respite and crisis counseling. Services are provided to youth and their families that reside in Lake County. Assessment for psychiatric hospitalization is provided to all Lake County youth who are wards of DCFS, have Medicaid or KidCare and all uninsured youth. Counseling services are provided mainly in the community, including schools.
Case managers are available to assist families in obtaining the resources necessary to restore balance. We strive to help youth and their families develop positive coping techniques, communication skills and the means to manage mental health issues, while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
What is the Cost?
Fees for CABS services are based on level of income and number of dependents. A sliding fee schedule based on national poverty levels is available for Lake County residents. The program accepts Medicaid/Kidcare.
System of Care Expansion and Sustainability Grant
On October 1, 2017, CABS was awarded a four-year grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The Lake County System of Care (SOC) Expansion project will target children and adolescents ages 3-20 in Lake County who are diagnosed with a serious emotional disturbance. The purpose of the grant is to expand capacity for behavioral health services as well as to fill gaps in existing services. New treatment interventions will be implemented with underserved populations, including youth involved with juvenile justice, DCFS, and the Child Advocacy Center. This grant will also create a county-wide System of Care approach to providing child and adolescent behavioral health services, including the development of a Lake County Wraparound Council.
